'Suicide Pact Gone Awry' Leaves One Woman Dead,
Two Charged with Murder

A woman was shot to death and two others wounded in Monroe, South Carolina, yesterday in what police are calling a “suicide pact gone awry.”
The three women were under investigation for prescription drug fraud and had formed a suicide pact, but when it came time to die by suicide, none of them were able to shoot themselves, so they decided to shoot each other instead.
Deborah Gibson, 45, was found dead at the scene. Her daughter, Jennifer McCord, 23, was shot in the shoulder, and a friend, Linda Maples, 26, was shot in the arm. Police believe that Gibson shot McCord, McCord shot Maples, and then Maples shot Gibson.
Police plan to charge McCord with felony conspiracy to commit murder, attempted first-degree murder, and murder; and Maples with felony conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
Suicide pacts are NEVER the answer to anything. Instead of looking to form a suicide pact, look for HELP. Call a suicide hotline. See a therapist. Talk with friends. Talk with family members. And visit Suicide.org.
If you or someone you know is suicidal, please go to the Home Page of this website for immediate help.
Thank you.
I love you.
Take care,
