Remembering an Angel:
Michael Thomason

by Kevin Caruso

Michael Thomason was a handsome, intelligent, talented, outgoing, and caring young man who had a wonderful smile, a warm laugh, and a great sense of humor.

Michael was an outstanding skateboarder, a highly skilled chess player, an excellent web designer, and an adept artist who loved to draw; he also enjoyed singing, playing the bass, white-water rafting, basketball, and working on computers.

He lived in Warren, Michigan, with his wonderful family, which included his loving parents, Suzi and Bob; brother, Kevin; sisters, Keli and Barbie; and niece, Alicia.

And Michael was a very caring person -- His friends and family members always knew that they could count on him whenever they needed help.

But Michael began to suffer from severe depression and was admitted to a hospital for treatment in the fall of 2002. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder, and was subsequently hospitalized several times because of the disorders.

On July 30, 2003, Michael hanged himself.

He was 20.

And now he is an angel.

We miss you Michael.

------------------------------------

Michael, we will always love you.

You are missed very much.

You will forever be in our hearts.

Love,

Mom, Dad, Keli, Kevin, Barbie, Alicia, and all.

Michael Thomason's memorial prayer (above, right):

God saw Micheal was getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
And whispered, "Come with Me."

With tearful eyes we watched
him suffer
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
