Hannah is an intelligent, caring, and awesome 12-year-old girl who lost her mom to suicide.
Hannah has written a poem that she would like to share with the Suicide.org community that she has entitled “Because You Are My Mom.” This poem is a wonderful expression of love from Hannah to her mother, and it is deeply moving and inspiring.
Hannah,
I know that your mom is extremely proud of you for ALL of the wonderful things that you do, including writing this beautiful poem. And I know that she loves you very, very much, and watches over you every day.
God bless you, Hannah.
I am so proud of you, and I want to remind you that you are a VERY special person...and that I love you very, very much.

Because You Are My Mom
by Hannah, age 12, and Kevin Caruso
I don’t know what to do
I have bad feelings that make me blue.
But when I die and am born anew
I know that I will be with you.
I feel real bad pain
It keeps falling on me like rain
And I will never be the same,
Because I miss you but you are not to blame.
After school when it is time to go home
I try to call you on my phone.
I call your number but you are not there
And I always get a really bad scare.
I wish I could talk to you some more
And tell you to come through my door.
You could come into my room and sit next to me
And then we could talk together again just you and me.
I would tell you that I love you
And that I have bad feelings too.
And you would tell me that you love me
So I wouldn't feel so blue.
I know you are in Heaven and that you are in the sky
And over and over I keep asking why.
But I want you to know that when I am with you in that sky
You don't have to tell me why you did a suicide.
Because you are my mom.
I love you mom.
