Cruel Teacher who Bullied Students is Put on Leave

Cruel Teacher who Bullied Students is Put on Leave

by Kevin Caruso

An incompetent, cruel, and abusive 5th grade teacher who incessantly bullied her students was finally put on leave.

She is a 57 year old teacher with 27 years of teaching experience and she taught at Wedgwood Elementary School in Seattle, Washington.

Innumerable complaints had been filed against the teacher for more that ten years.

Students constantly complained about both verbal and physical abuse.

The teacher incessantly berated and belittled the students for no reason.

All of the students were terrified of her, and no one liked her.

Many students complained that they were punished if they did not go to school because they were sick. They said that the teacher berated them for not showing up, and denied them recess for as many days as they were absent.

One girl with a hearing impairment was forced to sit at the back of the classroom every day, and thus could not hear what the cruel teacher was saying--and then the teacher would berate her and tell her that she was not paying attention. After receiving several complaints, the principal finally ordered the teacher to move the frightened girl to the front of the class, but that was too little too late for the parents, who wisely transferred her to another school.

One child in the class needed to enter therapy in order to cope with the teacher. And two students admitted that they contemplated suicide because of her abuse -- and thank goodness these two precious children who contemplated suicide did not die by suicide and are now getting help.

Several parents threatened to take civil action if the teacher was not removed, and, finally, she was.

Furious parents are still in disbelief that the abusive and incompetent teacher was not removed a long time ago.

I am deeply shocked by this abusive teacher and by the fact that administrators did not take action after the very first complaint. The teacher's abuse and the administrator's lack of action are both inexcusable. Period.

It is outrageous that a teacher could get away with bullying students when she should have been protecting them from bullies.

And it is outrageous that the principal and every other administrator and teacher who knew what was going on did not get rid of her many years ago.

I am appalled.

I am sickened.

I am disgusted.

I am deeply outraged.

And I am deeply saddened that this abuse continued for so long.

It is incomprehensible.

Clearly, the teacher should be just the first of many to be removed from this school. Indeed, every person at the school that sat back and did nothing should be held accountable.

As soon as this story hit the wires I began sending complaints to every person, politician, prosecutor, and organization that could take action.

This should have never happened.

Law suits should be filed.

A criminal investigation should occur.

Parents should transfer their children to other schools.

And protests should occur.

We will not stand for this type of abuse and lack of action at any school. Ever. Period.
